Soul meets Bollywood at an Indian summer evening of soul, funk and Asian grooves being held at the Rose Theatre.
Botown, the Bollywood soul band dubbed as Bollywood’s answer to the Commitments, bring their trumpets, saxophones and big band sound to the theatre.
Frontman and guitarist Ajay Srivastav, also a successful solo artist with a No 1 hit in India, has worked alongside artists such as Jamiroquai, the Brand New Heavies, and Bollywood legend Shah Rukh Khan.
He says: “Bollywood and soul are both music of the people.
“I've always been passionate about both, so combining the two is a musical dream come true.
Fans of both music genres will be at home at the gig.”
Regular members include Croydon-based trumpeter Paul Batik, west-London based drummer Jon Harris, as well as vocalists Rekha Sawhney and Rajvi Rajani.
Botown at the Rose Theatre, High Street, Kingston, June 3, tickets £5-10, rosetheatrekingston.org, 08444 821556.
