When it comes to mathematical games on the DS, there is certainly no shortage of them. A quick search on any shopping website of the words “maths” and “DS” will bring you at least 7 results and with the release of Oxygen Games’ “Challenge Me: Maths Workout”, comes the latest addition to this growing, educational based genre.
Featuring 2 number puzzle games, “Challenge Me: Maths Workout” is designed to test your mathematical skills.
In Hidden Logic, you can either play against another opponent, the DS or by yourself. The aim of Hidden Logic is to guess what your opponents cards are whilst trying to protect your own. Now, I’ve gotta say, either I am incredibly dim or playing against the DS is a bit unfair, as it seems to know exactly what your cards are. Even if the level is set on beginner, it doesn’t seem to give you a chance. However, playing the game on “Guess Hidden Logic“ is lot more fun and rewarding.
Formulate is a numbers game that uses numbers and equations on the cards to formulate answers. Each card is numbered 1-9, along with a mathematical symbol (such as +, -, x or ÷) and you must move your cards around to create the correct formula based on your opponents cards.
Overall “Challenge Me: Maths Workout” is quite a likeable puzzle game. Whilst it is not up there with the likes of the personable Brain Training series, it still offers enough mathematical puzzles to keep your brain busy for some time.
If you enjoy mathematical puzzles, this is the game for you.
