With its historic setting and vast grounds, Hampton Court Palace looks set to create quite an impression on food lovers when they head to the borough for the return of the Foodies Festival at the start of May.

A key attraction of the three-day event with be the Chef’s Theatre, where experts show off their culinary prowess while passing on tips of the trade to budding chefs.

Christine Fleming talks to former Celebrity MasterChef contestant and Chef’s Theatre performer Emma Forbes about what people can expect.

Forbes, who runs her own lifestyle and cookery website, says Foodies is something that appeals to a wide audience and she would be going herself if she was not already involved.

She said: "I love going to food festivals and love everything to do with food.

"I love my cookery and things like that and [the theatre is great as I] love the interaction with people as it gives it a real touch as I cook like most people at home – a little bit haphazard and hope it will be fun."

The presenter-turned-food-guru, who will prepare a desert-themed feast for audiences at the Chef’s Theatre, says she is excited about sharing her passion for food with others.

She said: "I have had a passion for food all my life. My mother’s a great cook so it really stems from being brought up very much with her love of food.

"I love going round food markets and testing food and experimenting and it stems from my upbringing as I think all good times are based around big meals.

"I’d say people should come to foodies as it is a great day out as where else can you pick up some great tips, see live cookery and be inspired?

"I just love food festivals as you can make your way round and feel inspired at these things and come back with bags of ingredients."
