After months of waiting the brand new , refurbished Anglo Saxon gallery has opened at the British Museum. Although it is housed in the same room as previously, Gallery 41, the gallery looks much bigger and there are more artefacts. There is also a lot of information about the role of Anglo Saxons in British history, which is actually quite important and tends to get left out.

With the recent discovery of an Anglo Saxon burial in Croydon itself, it is also worth noting that Croydon owes its name to the Anglo Saxons; the original Saxon name Croindene means Valley of the Crocuses as the whole of this area was originally countryside.
