The sacrifice of a lovely piece of green, surburban tranquility (not to mention the consequent cavalier treatment of the human remains there) to make money that was permitted at the old Portnalls Road Cemetery in Coulsdon is, as Adrian Falks rightly says (Cameron must address desecration of cemetery, Your Say, May 20), something of which those in charge, our supposed elders and betters, both nationally and locally, should be thoroughly ashamed.
It is too late, alas, to do anything now, but just a bit of public contrition (at little cost, too) would surely still not be amiss.
