We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone in Croydon who voted Green in the general election.
You all share our desire for a more equal society that thrives while looking after the environment around us.
All three of us more than doubled our vote share, polling a total of 6,123 votes in Croydon’s three constituencies, compared to 2,579 in 2010.
The increase in vote share is all the more remarkable given the close contest nationally, resulting in excessive levels of tactical voting.
Under proportional representation the Green Party would have won 25 seats, instead of just one.
In a year’s time we will have the London Assembly elections, where there is an element of proportional representation.
Every vote will count and so the electorate can vote for the party and values they support rather than, putting a cross by party X to stop party Y getting in.
We are the fastest-growing political party and we have had another jump in membership following the election. These are exciting times for the Green Party in Croydon as we continue grow year after year.
