September. School, the one word that comes to mind when you think of September. The time for going to Back To School sales, and desperately trying to find your school uniform after absentmindedly throwing it into a random corner at the beginning of Summer. Come on, it’s happened to all of us. We’re all secretly excited for the beginning of school, but is it for the right reasons? Are we excited to learn, or are we just excited for another year full of arguments, friendships, and the never ending gossip, what we know as a day in the life of a teenager? I’m sure most of us would choose the latter. But, is this right? There’s time for learning, and there’s time for gossip too. We’re all subject to it at some point. It isn’t right for these two things to crossover, causing tension between friendships, and within schoolwork. Even though school is a place of learning, what do we actually learn? The basics, such as counting, reading and writing, but we also learn more about ourselves, through the friends and choices we make. School may be a place of learning, but perhaps not the sort of learning we expect.
