In the ever-advancing world, keeping up to expectations has consumed the lives of many. Busy students and workers are prioritising study and work and disregarding the importance of having spending time alone and with family.

There are many ways one can improve their mental wellbeing; below are some.

Firstly, connecting and surrounding yourself with people. Having good relationships are important for your mental wellbeing as it helps you develop a sense of self-worth and belonging. It provides one with emotional support and raises the opportunity to support others which reinforces the idea of self-worth.  How can one do this? Perhaps by arranging a fixed time to spend with family, for example always having dinner together. Or arrange a nice day out or night in with good friends you haven’t seen in a while. Switching off technology and just playing a game or talking with family and friends can make a massive difference. Removing the screen from between us has a great impact!

Secondly, being physically active has a positive impact on your body. Not only are you physically healthier but also chemical changes are made in the brain which can help improve one’s mood. Maybe signing up to sports clubs and being surrounded by others, may motivate you and encourage you to make good friends and memories along the way. In the end, a good change to your mental wellbeing will be found.

Finally, acts of kindness can improve your mental wellbeing. Helping others and seeing them smile out gratefulness of your action is the best feeling. It is guaranteed to make you smile as well and improve your mood. Helping someone out adds to your self-esteem and helps you connect with others.

Trying the above tips can help you feel happier and will enable you to get the most out of life. Having a balance between work and rest will create a more enjoyable life.
