Nathan Williams aged 12 from Morden is one of many children benefitting from a nationwide scheme aimed at improving the quality of health for sufferers of Cystic Fibrosis.
Cystic Fibrosis is an inherited condition that causes sticky mucus to build up in the lungs and pancreas. This causes lung infections and problems with digesting food. Physical activity is recommended to help clear the mucus.
Nuffield Health in Cheam have devised a programme in conjunction with the Royal Brompton NHS Trust to allow an hour of one to one training every week. Nathan also is lucky enough to be trained by a former Great British Paralympian Ross Morrision.
Ross has represented his country at three Paralympic Games and is pleased to be part of this programme. "The scheme is proving to be very popular" Ross said. "After I retired I wanted to help others keep in shape."
Nathan is really enjoying the training and look forward to going every week as he knows how important it is to stay healthy.
This is a fantastic scheme and I hope it continues with many more gyms taking part.
