Banstead FC took a win in the Combined Counties League, winning 2-0 against Guildford City in a home game. This was their twelfth Combined Counties League game unbeaten.

On Saturday 6th October, it was first uncertain if the game was taking place. However, to their advantage, Banstead FC were able to play on the drab and windswept day, to steal a win against Guildford City.

The Banstead FC team started the first half securely, having the most possession on the pitch. This enabled them to get a 1-0 lead at the twenty-fifth minute. Joe Cheeseman gave Banstead FC their ‘deserved lead’, as a goal was scored after a free kick, as he was ‘on hand’.  Hutchings was soon unfortunate, as a possible goal was dragged wide.

The visiting side briefly tested Jack Minchin at the twenty-ninth minute, but it was found the Guilford City team were narrowly offside. Minchin was seen as a ‘mere spectator’ during most of the first half, but still did what he had to do well.

After half time, Guildford City came out faster, desperate to equalize the score. However, Minchin was alert and was forced into a ‘good save’ by using his feet.

Hutchings found himself back in the attacking half, but ‘rattled the crossbar’. With 20 minutes remaining, Scott Day was able to finish a ‘fine move’ to score from twenty yards.

The manager of Banstead FC said that they were back to their 'winning ways' and described it as a 'professional performance'. They are now preparing for the FA Vase 1st round, where they travel up to Broadsfield United.
