In a modern world where everything is becoming very futuristic and technical it is very refreshing to have an old fair come to town providing an insight into how societies have changed. You do not need to realise its historical value to appreciate how entertaining it is.

The Carters Steam Fair is a travelling old fashioned fair, the largest of its kind with vintage equipment. With the vintage era making a comeback in the fashion world this fair is becoming more popular amongst younger people.

In September, the weekend of the 16th the Carters Steam Fair was in Croxley Green, displaying a bright, bold, beautiful firework flourish to a variety of an audience. With free entry, this proved to be a very popular attraction. However, this was not the only attraction there was a vintage car display with hundreds of cars turning up and their famous vintage rides consisting of a steam powered carousel, dodgems, waltzers and more. For a small number of tokens these could be ridden to your hearts content. Workers are always watching, so it is completely safe and well organised with many concession stands selling typical fair food.

In my opinion it is a great chance to have fun at a beautiful place where you can get an adrenaline buzz from the rides and gorge on food that would put Jamie Oliver to shame. If we are lucky enough to have it in the area again I will be going and strongly recommend you do too.
