THERE will be no appearance at Wimbledon this year for 18-year-old Ukrainian Dayana Yastremska.

The teenager, who lost a thrilling Fuzion 100 Ilkley Trophy final on Sunday to Tereza Smitkova, who thus was handed a wild card into the women's singles at the All England Club, was beaten 6-4, 6-2 in the qualifying at Roehampton today.

Her conquerer, fellow Ilkley entrant Barbara Haas of Austria, will thus join seven other players who graced the Stourton Road venue last week in the final round of qualifying at the Bank of England Sports Centre.

Two of the third-round ties pit fellow Ilkley entrants against each other, with 22-year-old Haas facing Romania's Elena-Gabriela Ruse, while 2016 Ilkley winner Evgeniya Rodina will meet Japan's Mayo Hibi.

Ruse beat Australia's Arina Rodionova 5-7, 6-4, 6-4 in 2hr 31min, while ninth seed Rodina defeated fellow Russian Irina Khromacheva 7-6 (9-7), 6-2, and Hibi saw off fellow 22-year-old Deborah Chiesa (Italy) 6-3, 6-1.

Others to reach the final step before the All England Club were third seed Sara Sorribes Tormo (Spain), fifth seed Nicole Gibbs (United States) and unseeded Bianca Andreescu (Canada) and Anna Kalinskaya (Russia).

Spaniard Sorribes Tormo beat Marie Bouzkova (Czech Republic) 6-2, 7-6 (7-3) to earn herself a match against 23rd-seeded Ukrainian Marta Kostyuk, who is only 15.

Andreescu, who had a notable 6-4, 6-3 victory against 6ft 1in Chinese opponent Yingying Duan, faces Germany's Antonia Lottner, who ousted 24th seed Irina Falconi (United States) 6-0, 1-6, 6-3 in 1hr 55min.

Gibbs, a 6-2, 6-3 conquerer of Italy's Martina Trevisan, plays 18-year-old American Claire Liu, while 19-year-old Kalinskaya, who defeated Dalila Jakupovic (Slovenia) 6-2, 7-6 (7-4), faces 19th seed Viktoriya Tomova of Bulgaria, who is four years older.

The most notable effort among the Ilkley entrants who failed today was the Czech Republic's Karolina Muchova, who only lost 6-2, 2-6, 6-3 to four-time Grand Slam quarter-finalist Eugenie Bouchard, who was runner-up in the 2014 Wimbledon final.

Next up for 24-year-old Bouchard, who has also reached the quarter-finals and semi-finals of the Australian Open and  the semi-finals of the French Open, is second seed Marina Duque-Marino (Colombia), who beat Ilkley entrant Richel Hogenkamp (Netherlands) 6-4, 6-1.

Ilkley women's doubles runners-up Natela Dzalamidze (Russia) and Galina Voskoboeva (Kazakhstan), who is 6ft, suffered more disappointment as they went out 6-3, 4-6, 12-10 in 2hr 52min to top seeds Nicola Geuer (Germany) and Viktoriya Glubic (Switzerland).

The latter now meet fifth seeds Yasaline Bonaventure (Belgium) and 30-year-old Dutch player Bibiane Schoofs, whose brightly coloured car adorned the Ilkley car park, for the right to qualify.

Bonaventure and Schoofs defeated Bouchard and American teenager Caroline Dolehide 6-2, 7-5.

Kalinskaya and Viktorija Kuzmova (Slovakia) were on the right end of a marathon, however, beating second seeds Desirae Krawczyk (United States) and Ellen Perez (Australia) 4-6, 7-6 (7-5), 8-6 in 2hr 12min.

They will now play Alexa Guarachi (Chile) and Erin Routliffe (New Zealand) for the right to qualify.

The other second-round ties are seventh seeds Rodionova and Maryna Zanevska (Belgium) against fourth seeds Georgina Garcia Perez (Spain) and Fanny Stollar (Hungary), and Anna Blinkova (Russia) and Marketa Vondrousova (Czech Republic) against Luksika Kumkhun (Thailand) and Zinyun Han (China).

Meanwhile, Ilkley winners Austin Krajicek (United States) and Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan (India) and German runners-up Kevin Krawietz and Andreas Mies are both thorugh to Wimbledon in the men's doubles.

Krajicek and Nedunchezhiyan, who are seeded fourth, beat Britons Ed Corrie and Lloyd Glasspool 7-5, 6-3, while fifth seeds Krawietz and Mies defeated second seeded Belgians Sandor Gille and Joran Vliegen 6-3, 7-6 (7-3).
