Rosslyn Park head coach Jan Bonney is eagerly anticipating this weekend’s top of the table clash against Ealing Trailfinders after beating Barking 44-13 to move up to second in National League One.

Park are in red-hot form at the moment having won 10 of their last 11 games, although Bonney still sees room for improvement from his side.

He said: “We made a lot of errors in the first-half but I was impressed with our performance in the second-half.

“Barking are a decent side, they’ve beaten Fylde and Ealing this year but we made too many errors in the first-half although we put that right in the second half and came away with a good win and five points.”

What pleased Bonney though, was his side’s ability to put to one side their excitement ahead of the Ealing game over the last couple of weeks to take two wins against Blaydon and Barking.

And now they can concentrate on what could prove to be a titanic battle.

He explained: “I think the boys have had it on their minds for a couple of weeks which is a difficult one really because we had teams like Blaydon and Barking in between but we’ve done that and everybody is looking forward to it.

“We’ll get a good training week in this week and we will be competitive and give them a good game.

“They’ve got some quality players.

“Phil Chesters is the leading try scorer in the league and they have a good pack so they are a good all round side with some danger men and we have got to make sure that we look after those guys and also play our own game.”
