Florent Rossigneaux has urged caution from the Rosslyn Park paymasters as the Priory Lane club plan for life in National League One.

A mere fortnight after securing promotion following their 44-21 play-off victory at Loughborough Students, work is underway on putting together a squad that can survive at a higher level.

But Rossigneaux reckons it would be wrong to start splashing the cash.

He said: “There will obviously be the need to bring some players in and we recognise that.

“But we must not live above our means.

“We have seen recently that sides have over-spent and got themselves into real trouble, and we must not allow ourselves to get into any sort of difficult position.”

With players such as veteran Chris Ritchie likely to retire, and loanees like Olly Lyndsay-Hague unsure of returning, Rossigneaux will be scouring the land to try and boost the ranks.

There will also be a coaching shake-up, with backs guru Stuart Abbott returning to South Africa.

But the French coach admits it may be easier to tempt players with a League One place in the offing.

Rossigneaux added: “I think it is pretty likely that quite a few of this season’s squad will move on.

“I know a lot of the players will see promotion as a real high point on which to bow out.

“We obviously do not know who just yet, but it is probably a reality.

“But equally we are a pretty attractive proposition for people now.

“We are a club moving forward.

“We have succeeded in what we wanted to achieve and now we are setting the next challenges, and it is a very exciting time for us.”
