A brand new rugby and music festival, RugbyRocks, is helping The Prostate Cancer Charity tackle the disease head on this summer, with a host of big names from the world of sport and music taking part.

The Charity has become the Official Charity Partner of RugbyRocks (www.rugbyrocks7s.com) which is launching on 12 June at the Athletic Ground in Richmond.

The festival will see international music artists taking to the main stage throughout the day. RugbyRocks will be Headlined by FEEDER, with other confirmed acts already including The Parlotones, Just Jack (DJ) and Alex Gardnerwith more big name artists to be announced shortly.

RugbyRocks is hosting the opening leg of the inaugural National 7s Series, set to become the Twenty20 of rugby.

The Prostate Cancer Charity will use its association with RugbyRocks to increase awareness of the disease to younger men and to raise vital funds.

As part of the partnership, the Charity will sponsor the RugbyRocks fancy dress competition and will be entering a team into the RugbyRocks Men’s Open.

Rugby international, Danny Care, of the Harlequins and England squad, said: "I always look forward to Sevens at the end of the season.

"The addition of music at RugbyRocks is going to create an awesome atmosphere throughout the day."

The Prostate Cancer Charity's Head of Community Fundraising, Claire Walsh, said: "We are delighted to be working closely with RugbyRocks this season.

"Rugby tends to attract a large male audience and so the partnership seems like a perfect fit as the disease is the most common cancer in men in the UK.

"We are really looking forward to seeing all of the great acts that have been lined up for the festival and the combination of rugby and music is sure to be a crowd pleaser.

"We are very grateful to the whole team at RugbyRocks for organising such a show stopping event and we are eagerly awaiting the day itself."

The world of rugby is already embracing raising awareness of the cause.

The annual fundraising event, Movember, in partnership with the Charity has been supported by rugby clubs across the country including teams from the Guinness Premiership, such as Leicester Tigers and Bath Rugby.

The fundraiser sees men across the country grow a moustache for the month of November to raise funds.
