This Saturday Teddington RFC who are the champions of The London an,d South East Division will be playing in the semi final of The RFU Junior Vase, writes Gareth Cross.

They take on Bristol Imperial RFC the champions of the South West Division.

The game is being played at Teddington’s home ground inside Bushy Park and kicks off at 3pm.

The Junior Vase is a national knockout cup competition for grassroots rugby clubs, with the eventual winner able to claim to be the best junior rugby club in the land.

The teams will be battling it out for a place in the showpiece final which will be played at Twickenham Stadium on Saturday, May 15.

Teddington under the direction of coach Giselle Mather have got to this stage by battling through eight qualifying rounds.

This has included an amazing victory away in the London and South East Divisional Final at Newmarket RFC on Easter Saturday.

This breathless and tight game went all the way to extra time, and was only settled by a brilliant Teddington try in the last move of the extra time.

The players and supporters have only just recovered, but need no further incentive to get themselves prepared for Saturdays semi final, as it will be the biggest day in the clubs 44 year history.

Everyone involved at Teddington is hoping that the team can go one stage further and if so would like the Teddington community to get behind their local rugby club for a wonderful day out at Twickenham Stadium.

Teddington have already wrapped up this seasons Surrey One league title, winning every game. In fact they have won all 28 games they have so far played this season, and are attracting glowing praise from many local rugby pundits.

The club are encouraging as many people as possible to come along to Bushy Park this Saturday to see what all the fuss is about and watch some top notch amateur rugby.

The pre match fun starts at 1pm and includes a curtain raiser game by the Teddington mini rugby section.
