Old Glynonians finished their final league game in style, beating Woking 40-18, writes Samuel Drew.

Glyns stepped out at Priest Hill on Saturday into fantastic sunshine and were clearly more concerned with topping up their tans as a silly error just inside their half gave Woking the first points with a converted penalty.

Old Glynonians responded with full force and fantastic pressure from the forwards turned defence into attack, which was exploited by Tom Burns who cut through the Woking defence to score under the posts. Tom Webb converted Old Glynonians took their foot off the pedal again, and another mistake saw another three points go Woking’s way.

The league winners then turned on the flare, with centre Ben Rawlinson finishing off a well-worked backs move and prop Freddie Coventry going over after some strong forward maul work from a lineout. Webb converted both.

A determined Woking outfit kept pressure on OGs and, after a long period of possession in the second half, went over with a breakaway try from their full-back.

Glyns were not finished and responded again with a fantastic dummy from Jon Yates, which allowed for a two-on-one with the Woking full-back, allowing Burns to go over for a second.

Glynonians kept the pressure up and fantastic vision from Ben Rawlinson saw him intercept a Woking pass to go over for his second.

Webb was rewarded for a brilliant kicking display with a try of his own after stepping through a broken Woking defence.

Old Glynonians now look forward to their Surrey Bowl clash away to Merton on April 24.
