Florent Rossigneuax wants his Rosslyn Park side to become winter warriors as they look to maintain their National League Two South promotion charge.

A comprehensive 48-3 dismantling of visitors Henley last weekend has seen the Priory Lane side close in on Barking, with victory at Worthing this Saturday likely to leave them just three points behind the leaders.

And Rossigneaux reckons it is all down to his muddy marvels.

He said: “We have worked really hard over the last couple of weeks to adapt our game to winter conditions.

“We had a free weekend before the Henley game and we used that to change our style of play.

“We have been looking at getting the forwards more involved in the game, but also in operating in different areas of the pitch rather than just picking a fight with the opposition.

“We need to try and spread the game a bit wider, but not too quickly.

“But there is no doubt that we play a lot better if we get the ball away from the muddier areas.”

A six-try romp against Henley saw James Strong (two), Richard Davies (two), Rob Jewell and Jonny Barrett cross for tries.

And Rossigneaux feels there is plenty more to come from winger Strong, who now has nine tries to his name this campaign.

He added: “We know he can score tries - we just need to give him the ball and open up a bit of space.

“I think he still has 10-20 per cent in the tank, and he is proving a real influence on our attack.”

Park travel to Worthing this weekend to face a side struggling in the lower reaches of the table.

But Rossingeaux is not expecting an easy ride.

He added: “Worthing are trying to tighten up at the moment and will be no pushovers.

“A bonus point would be nice but all I want is to win the game and keep our run going.”
