Florent Rossigneaux admits he is looking to bring in up to half a dozen new faces before Rosslyn Park get their pre-season schedule underway on August 15.

Park, who pushed London Scottish all the way last season before having to settle for second spot in the National League Three South, are eager to go one better this campaign.

And Rossigneaux reckons the players he has identified will be the perfect tonic.

He said: “As a club we are trying very hard to move forward, and the players I am hoping to bring in will play a big part in that.

“Everything is pretty much there and we hope to have the new guys in place by the end of this week.

“The whole basis of the recruitment process for us is about bringing in more maturity and experience.

“I want the players to take more responsibility.

“There are also a couple of tactical areas that need to be addressed - tight-head prop for example, but I am confident that we will start the season with a far stronger squad than that which finished last season.”

Rossigneaux hopes to retain the bulk of the squad that served the Priory Lane side so well last year, although they will have to do without the services of fly-half Richard Mahony, who has elected to leave to take up a coaching role at Staines.

The coach added: “We are sad to see Richard go, but he is at the stage of his career when he was looking to move into coaching and we couldn’t offer him that.

“There may be some other players to leave, but I do not expect any of our regulars to be moving on.

“We have had some fitness sessions this week, and now it is all about getting the skills up to scratch before we play Bedford in August.”
