Rosslyn Park director of rugby Shaun Justice admits it will be difficult for his side to replicate their stunning campaign next season - but it will not be for the want of trying.

Park ensured second spot in the National League Three South with a 28-22 win at Henley last Thursday.

But Justice accepts that Park’s surprising form has set them up to be shot at next year.

He said: “We all understand that there will be a lot of pressure next season.

“Expectations have been raised across the board - from the players and staff to the fans.

“We will not be able to surprise teams like we did at the start of this campaign.

“We know it will be tough but we are prepared for that.

“Yes it may have surprised people that we came second - but if you do not target promotion the season after coming second then you are stupid.”

Dylan Pugh, Dan Frazier, Chris Ritchie and Nick Huggett crossed for tries at Henley as Rosslyn emerged triumphant in an entertaining contest.

And Justice reckons the spine of the squad needed for next season is already in place.

He added: “Yes we will be recruiting in the summer, but the first priority is to look at the squad you have and make sure they are tied down for next season.

“We would look like idiots if we concentrated on recruitment and forgot to focus on the nucleus we have here.

“We have a good young side, and an excellent coaching structure in place and everything is geared up for the future.

“We are definitely ahead of where we wanted to be and the goal next season is to go for promotion.”
