London & South East have named an Under 16 team to face the Midlands U16 at Old Coventrians RFC on Sunday (January 25, kick-off 2pm).

Team manager Mick Eyres and chairman of selectors David Turner explained the reasons behind arranging the one-off fixture, which is on the same weekend that 84 players from around England take part in the second and final Under 16 Divisional Festival of the season at Broadstreet RFC.

"London & South East didn't play against the Midlands in the first Divisional Festival, so we agreed it would be good to arrange this one-off match," said Eyres.

"There were a lot of lads who were on the edge of being selected for London & South East in the first Divisional Festival, and who deserve the chance to play for their division. It gives them the opportunity to represent London & South East alongside those who did not quite make England's development squad of 40, or the Blues v Reds trial match at the second Divisional Festival. It all helps towards developing our players in this important age group."

London & South East U16 have two other exciting fixtures to look forward to in the first week of April, when they will play against USA U17 and Leinster Schools in a festival at Bryanston School in Dorset. The United States team will be in England preparing for the annual Millfield International Festival.
