Civil Service opened their London Two North campaign with a remarkable 41-30 victory at Eton Manor on Saturday, writes Paul Tiller.
The first half saw the home side play with better shape, keeping the game in the Civil Service half for long periods.
Eton Manor led 18-7 at the break, the Civil Service score coming from Wihan Grobler’s try converted by Andy Thompson.
The visitors pulled a try back after half-time through Brendan Robinson, only for Eton Manor to strike twice more and lead 30-12.
But the sharp tongue of coach Nigel Rosser and the use of replacements saw Civil Service went on the rampage.
They took Eton Manor apart in open play running in four tries through Darryl Gore, Aaron Campbell, Duncan Rutherford and Grobler.
Andy Thompson converted three of them.
