Grasshoppers lost out in the dying moments to the super-charged Haringey Rhinos, despite a brave effort throughout.

Despite nearly grabbing their first win of the season on Saturday, a late Rhinos effort put paid to all their hopes.

Gs played well from the start and Simon Shirreff slipped in for an unconverted try.

The Gs' backs showed their class when they went blind and fed winger Andrew Ruinoff who fed inside to supporting full-back Jeremy Easton for another unconverted score.

So with the half-time score 10-0, the second half couldn't have started any better, with a well-deserved try for number eight Matt Nemeth, which also went unconverted.

However, this sparked Haringey into life and they scored two converted tries to draw them back to within one point of Gs.

But back came Gs with another try, Stuart Daniels scoring what looked like the winning try.

However, the last 10 minutes were tortuous for the home supporters as wave after wave of Haringey attacks were repelled by some stoic Gs' defence.

Haringey took a quick penalty and a try adjacent to the posts.

And then, in stilted silence, the Haringey standoff kicked the final score, clicking the points from 20-19 to 20-21 and with it two more league points.
