London League 3 South-West, Saturday, October 27, 2007.

Times are very hard for Wimbledonians' 1st team. This match was the seventh successive defeat of the year and the largest score since mighty Richmond were in the league five seasons ago. Ten tries in all were conceded to Fisher but there were two periods in the second half during which a keen fight-back was attempted.

Fisher were a fast, fit and formidable team and called for a huge amount of defensive work. From the start they gained possession and threw the ball around, soon scoring their first try through a stretched defence. They were held for the next eight minutes to just a dropped goal but, maintaining pressure and possession, ran in a further five tries before halftime for a 37 point lead.

With some character the Old Boys took the plaudits of the early part of the second half but were unable to get very close to their opponents' line. They also put in some magnificent tackles when needed until Fisher broke out after a quarter of an hour. Scoring three tries in ten minutes Fisher appeared to be on the rampage once more but Wimbledonians responded spiritedly again for fifteen minutes, relaxing at the very end when Fisher ran through a couple of injured players for their final try.

An interesting local derby match comes on Saturday with the visit to Motspur Park for the bottom-of-table meeting with KCS Old Boys, currently one place above OWs.
