This match had just about everything, writes Bernard Wiggins.

Four good tries from Park, whose pack were magnificent, the Referee pulling up with a calf strain and having to be replaced, a sending off, and in the end uncontested scrums,(which rather spoilt the game); but Park did pick up a valuable bonus point for scoring four tries.

Park would not have been happy with the first decision of the match when in the third minute, and looking odds on to score, referee Mike Tutty called it back for a penalty, and Mahoney made no mistake.

As is so often the case in sport, having just won a penalty, Park conceded one after letting the ball bounce from the restart (often fatal), but were lucky when full back Kieron Davies was off target.

Then there was a long delay after the unfortunate Mr Tutty limped out of the game, Simon Bourne took over and Park medic Nick Goddard ran the line.

In the thirteenth minute, it had already become clear that the visitors were going to have trouble in the tight and the loose, a rampaging forward drive from the 22 saw flanker John Underwood driven over. Mahoney converted for 10-0.

4 minutes later a speculative kick downfield was picked up on the Park 22 and Nick Harlock returned it with compound interest with a kind bounce to the 5 metre line. Park won the ball and claimed another pushover try, hooker Adam Blemmings emerging as the scorer. Mahoney was off target with the extras but had no trouble with a penalty on 22 minutes (18-0) after continuous pressure from the Park forwards induced an infringement.

In the 31st minute Luton put their only points of the match on the board after Park had sinned at a ruck, but Park were back to the formula that had served them well, and a great kick by Mahoney to the 22 a catch and drive, and Blemmings claimed his second try of the game. The conversion made it 25-3 at half time.

I would not have been surprised if Park had doubled their tally in the second half, but the visitors had other ideas, and were almost over in the first minute, save for a try saving tackle from Swords and then Mahoney who ripped the ball away and touched down for a 22.

Its difficult to say what then transpired, as it all occurred on the far side of the pitch, but punches seemed to have been thrown, resulting in Luton receiving a straight red, and Park a yellow card.

Shortly afterwards, the match took a turn that rather nullified the effect of the Park pack as the referee called uncontested scrums as Luton had no front row replacements left.

I'm not sure whether Park then got white line fever, but several attacks came to nought with either a dropped ball or a forward pass, such was the urgency in getting that fourth try and the bonus point, Mike Count was over, but that was called back for crossing ,but 13 minutes from time Count was rewarded for what was for me a man of the match performance , when the No 8 crashed over after the visitors ran out of defenders.
