Bradley Skeete was satisfied his victory against Giovanni Michael Frontin last Friday went the full eight round distance, writes Ziad Chaudry.

The 24-year-old welterweight prospect from Battersea cruised to a comfortable 80-71 success over the tough and durable Tottenham-based Mauritian at York Hall in Bethnal Green to register his sixth straight professional win.

Frontin went down in the opening round but courageously hanged on and took every punishment former Earlsfield ABC representative Skeete handed him despite being comprehensively beaten.

It was a good test for Skeete though who was pleased to have gone eight rounds.

“He’s tough and he proved it after I put him down in the first,” he said.

“This guy has fought some top prospects who have gone on to do good things.

“When I dropped him the first round I thought it was going to be an early night but he obviously proved how tough he was and he took me to eight rounds, which for my career was good.

“If I stopped him in the first round then it wouldn’t done me any favours so obviously I needed to get the rounds in.”

The fight was on the undercard of Streatham fighter Leon Williams's British Cruiserweight title defence against Shane McPhilbin, which the south Londoner lost after being surprisingly knocked down in the last round after dominating the rest of the bout.
