A strong second half performance saw Richmond women's second XV secure their first win of the season as they beat Old Albanians 17-14.

Following a loss in their opening fixture against Clifton last week a reshuffled Richmond side travelled to OAs where they faced a tough challenge and a 14-3 halftime deficit.

But a few choice words at break got the side back on track and from the restart Alice Richardson's bounced the ball into touch a few yards from their own try line.

Under pressure from the throw OAs knocked on giving Richmond the scrum. The visitors used their possession well, freeing fullback Vicki Dibdin to score in the corner. Richardson added the extras with a well struck touchline conversion.

With the score at 14-10 Richardson missed a penalty, but Richmond continued to attack.

OA rushed a clearance giving the visitors a lineout five metres out, from which a front peel by Helen Siwek setup a driving maul allowing Clare Hoppe to ground the ball. Richardson added the extras from wide out.

OA lifted their game, supported by a noisy crowd, but Richmond held on to clinch their first win of the season.
