Kingston Rowing Club women’s eight could not make home advantage count as they fell at the final hurdle in losing their last race at this year’s Kingston Amateur regatta on Saturday.

The crew had comfortably dispatched near neighbours Twickenham and Parrs Priory in their opening race of the day and edged out Oxford Academicals (pictures above) in the semi-final two hours later.

But they couldn’t repeat their form in the final as Osiris Boat Club claimed the crown with a four length triumph on the Thames.

Kingston had something to cheer late in the day as Jon MacKinney and Tom Wiley clocked three minutes 20secs to win the men’s double sculls ahead of Cambridge University.

On Sunday, Kingston Rowing Club won the girls J16 double sculls to make up for losing the girls J15 double sculls by a foot, while Kingston Grammar School took the boys J15 coxed quadruple sculls.

Tiffin School won the boys J16 single sculls to cap a fine weekend.
