Rosslyn Park made a nightmare start to the National Division Three season on Saturday when they crashed 43-5 at Westcombe Park.

Skipper Shaun Justice cajoled his troops, but there was no lack of commitment - the visitors were simply outplayed and outclassed in every department.

Combe stormed into a 19-0 lead with three tries, two of which were converted.

A crumb of hope came Rosslyn Park's way when a home player was sin-binned close to half-time.

Park kicked the penalty to just outside the 22 but contrived to knock-on at the lineout.

The visitors were shell-shocked when Tom Wells earned a yellow card to reduce their ranks to 14 at the start of the second half.

The referee read the riot act to despairing defenders and Rich-ard Jackson was sent to join his mate on the sidelines for a team offence.

Rampant Combe took advantage to stretch their lead to 33-0, but there was still life in Park and, after more than an hour, entered the home 22 for the first time, when Martin Jackson nearly sent in Richard McKeown.

McKeown then became the third Park player off the afternoon to be shown yellow, and Combe grabbed two further tries.

Last season's leading try-scorer Marcus McCluggage and close season signing Adam Gates will be available for selection for Havant's visit on Saturday (3pm).
