Tom Onslow-Cole is targeting race wins after making a sensational return to former employers Team Aon.

The 24-year-old New Malden driver left Aon at the end of last season and has been driving for minnows AMD Milltek in the opening four rounds of the current British Touring Car Championship.

Despite exceeding expectations with AMD's Gulf, he admitted the chance to rejoin the front runners, for whom he finished fourth in the driver's championship last year, was too good an opportunity to pass up.

"It is a shame to be leaving AMD," he said.

"I really enjoyed developing the car with them but this was an opportunity to get back in a car with a team I know very well.

"It has got me back among the front runners and now I am able to push for wins.

"The Championship is done for me, I think I have nine points so that is not really my concern, I just want to grab as many points as I can.

"The team has been running at the front, they haven't quite managed to get that win yet but I am sure the car is capable of it.

"I haven't driven it yet, I will do that for the first time next Thursday before the rounds at Croft that weekend, but I am familiar with it.

"A lot of it is the same as the car from last year and it is not like I have been out of a touring car."

Onslow-Cole informed AMD of his decision between the second and third races at Oulton Park last weekend, with the team pulling the car out of the third race after finishing 11th in race one and 16th in race two.

"It looked like it was going ahead on Sunday and I did not want to hide it from AMD," said Onslow-Cole.

"I told them between races and they decided to pull the car from the third race as they didn't want to pick up any damage.

"It was tough to leave but it has all been done nicely and everyone seems to be quite happy.

"AMD are developing well with the Gulf I am sad to be leaving and frustrated a bit to be leaving the Gulf unfinished.

"We had three points finishes in the car so we were moving forward quickly with it and I still believe it will be a great touring car.

"It is something I would have liked to carry on with but I have to think of my career and what I am trying to achieve."
