Harlequins RL are set to be without David Howell for up to two months after the Australian centre had an operation on his knee.

Howell has missed the last two games for Quins, including last Saturday's 30-16 defeat at home to Bradford Bulls, and may not feature until the middle of July as he overcomes the injury.

"David Howell will be out for another seven weeks, following a clean out of his knee," said Quins head coach Rob Powell.

Howell joins Luke Dorn, Rob Purdham and Jason Golden on the treatment table but two of those could be back in the next fortnight.

Dorn came back from a hamstring problem against Leeds Rhinos in the Carnegie Challenge Cup on May 20, but tweaked the injury again in the match.

He should be back soon though as should influential captain Purdham to give Powell a double boost.

Purdham, currently in his testimonial year, sustained a shoulder injury which has taken longer to heal than was initially hoped.

Golden though does not have a comeback date following a series of complications with an initial groin injury sustained in pre-season.

"There have been some improvements recently so we are hoping at some point we will see him," said Powell.

Quins' biggest home crowd of the season, 4,253, saw two long-range tries by Bradford prove their undoing as their winless run extended to 11 league games.

Quins took the lead early on through a Karl Pryce try but found themselves 12-4 down at the interval.

Although Karl Temata and Pryce scored further tries in the second half, it was all too little too late.

"Kicking let us down massively," said Powell.

"I thought we were the better team overall - I genuinely believe that but when we had the ball five metres from their line, four times we kicked it dead.

"The guys will be frustrated, if the team play well but the people responsible for kicking the ball don't do their bit of the job and the chase don't do their bit of the job, it becomes hard.

"Every team in the competition is going to punish you for those elements of the game not being good enough."
