The Final of the Williamhill.com Greyhound Derby takes place on Saturday at Wimbledon Stadium and the question on everybody’s mind is can Taylors Sky break the Trap 1 curse?

After another track record equalling performance at the semi finals last Saturday night, Taylors Sky shot into favourite position with sponsors William Hill to take the £75,000 first prize and the title of Champion.

However, his draw in trap 1 casts a little bit of doubt into the mind.

Trap 1 has never been successful in a Derby final at Wimbledon Stadium but as Taylors Sky has been performing exceptionally in the competition; connections will be hoping that it will be performance that takes place over the position he starts from.

Local Wimbledon Trainer Norah McEllistrim will be hoping that it is the wider draw of Trap 6 that proves to be successful. Norah is sure to have the support of the Wimbledon faithful as she takes her place in her first ever Derby final with Cloheena Cash.

Keith Hallinan, General Manager of the Stadium said: “The semi final last Saturday saw a bumper crowd and now we all can’t wait to see the Final. It’s a great open field for the big race and all 6 Dogs have a chance to take their place in history. The whole competition has been excellent from start to finish."

Kate Miller, from William Hill added: ‘’Our six finalists are now known and some incredible stories are attached to each runner. Each has contended with trials and tribulations to reach the grand final and a prize of £75,000 and a glittering career at stud awaits the 2011 williamhill.com Greyhound Derby Champion.’’

The Williamhill.com Greyhound Derby Final will be: 1 Taylors Sky 2 Bright Redcliffe 3 Westmead Guru 4 Razldazl George 5 Barefoot Bullet (w) 6 Cloheena Cash (w)
