Bradley Ellis is revving up for the next Radical rounds on Saturday, May 14, at Oulton Park, Cheshire, as the championship fight returns to the UK after its first international outing at Spa Francorchamps last weekend.

Ellis will be hoping to continue his consistent championship progress in the third and fourth Radical UK Cup rounds this weekend following promising results so far with new teammate Andy Cummings.

Their racing partnership got off to a healthy start at Silverstone last month with a top 10 result and Ellis threatening for a podium class battle before he suffered a puncture.

With no championship points up for grabs at Spa, the Supreme Racing duo opted to limit tyre-wear yet managed to bounce back from a tricky qualifying session to deliver a 12th place Supersport finish in race one.

Dramatic set-up changes to control understeer on the Radical SR3 left the pair hopeful of making the most of Ellis’ seventh place grid slot for race two but that was cancelled following an incident in qualifying for the Spa 1000km.

Despite that disappointment, Ellis believes significant steps forward with the set-up leave them in good stead as the championship battle resumes at Oulton Park where the 23 year-old Croydon-born ace will be aiming for his first class podium.

“I’m really pleased with how the season is going so far,” said Ellis. “We’ve already recorded respectable results, which is great especially considering I haven’t raced in the series for four years and this is Andy’s first Radical season.

“I think we were on for a shot at a class podium at Spa, but there’s little we could do about the race being cancelled. In any case, there were no championship points on offer so it would mean a lot more to achieve a podium at Oulton Park.

“Oulton is a great circuit. It’s a track I enjoy and I’m sure Andy will quickly get to grips with the Radical around there. Every time we race we are making massive progress on all levels, from Andy’s valuable race experience to the set-up of the car.

“It would be nice to get our first class podium and we go to Oulton with that intention, but to do that we have to keep concentrating on perfecting our race package. If we continue our rate of positive progress the results will naturally follow, so I’m really looking forward to it.”

Qualifying for rounds three and four of the Radical UK Cup will take place at 09:05 and 09:25 on Saturday, May 14, before Cummings tackles only his third ever Radical race start at 12:15. The lights will go green for race two at 16:00 as Ellis embarks on his mission to take his first class podium of the season.
