Carshalton light-welterweight Tony Owen puts his undefeated record on the line against Reading’s Ibrar Riyaz on Sunday afternoon.

The fight, on the Miranda Carter-promoted Double Trouble promotion at York Hall, Bethnal Green, represents the biggest threat yet for Owen, who has a perfect 10-win record since turning pro in 2009.

Owen goes into the contest after an impressive points victory over the experienced Araik Sachbazjan in his last outing at the same venue on February.

“That was a real test for me as he was a big step up in class from my previous opponents,” said Owen.

“I trained hard for that fight and to be honest I felt I handled him comfortably”.

Riyaz has fought some of Britain’s best fighters in the weight division below.

Owen reckons the fight will be a good indicator as to where he ranks in a competitive weight division and the progress he has made under new trainer Bernard Foreman.

He added: “Training with Bernard has been going great and I have been working really hard for this contest.

“I am training alongside my younger brother Lee who is turning pro this year and feel really settled with my new team.

“I am looking forward to putting on a good performance in front of all my friends and family.”
