Mike Skinner warmed up in style for Saturday’s Surrey Championships with victory in last weekend’s Bushy Park 5km parkrun.
Skinner clocked 15 minutes, seven seconds to finish ahead of Tooting-based Ben Whitby and Harrow’s Richard Franzeze.
Fifth-placed Scott Mitchell, of West 4 Harriers (17:34) was among 51 runners at local events for whom taking part in one parkrun wasn’t enough on Saturday morning.
Being New Year’s Day, some of races started at 9am on Saturday with others getting under way at 10am.
Mitchell (17:32) went on to finish second in Richmond Park behind Shaftesbury arnet teenager Jake Shelley (16:48).
But, while most double runners made the journey to the events by car, three ran the four miles from the finish in Bushy Park to the start line in Richmond Park.
Danny Norman, of Stragglers, was sixth in Bushy Park (17:44) and fifth in Richmond Park (17:44).
Ranelagh Harriers’ David Rowe came 23rd of the 367 runners in Bushy Park (19:09) and 18th in Richmond (19:57).
Teenager Oliver Garner (19:43 and 21:13) also achieved the feat.
