Chloe Bean scooped 13 medals, broke four Leatherhead Swimming Club records and set a new regional best at the South-East short course Winter Championships at the Mountbatten Centre, Portsmouth.

Competing against swimmers from 51 swimming clubs across the region, Chloe came away from the two-day open event with three trophies and six gold medals for her performances in the senior and junior categories of the 400m individual medley (4:54.21), the 50m breaststroke (33.93) and 200m breaststroke (2:33.88).

The latter was a new South-East Region short course record. She also won five silver medals for the junior 200m freestyle event (2:04.96), the senior and junior categories of the 200m individual medley (2:20.26) and the 100m breaststroke (1:13.06); and two bronze for the junior 100m individual medley (1:07.73) and senior 200m freestyle.

‘I’m really pleased with my times. This was my first major meet of the season and straight off the back of a week’s intensive training camp, so I wasn’t sure how it would go,’ said Chloe.

There were also some great performances from other club members with Chloe’s sister, Lucy (13y), knocking 4s off her 200m breaststroke time (2:51.30), as well as setting new personal best times in the 100m breaststroke (1:21.33) and the 50m breaststroke (38.83).

Lauren Parsons (17y) achieved a 3s personal best and club record in the 800m freestyle (9:21.37) and a 3s PB in the 400m freestyle (4:35.30).

David Brazil (15y) knocked more than 1s off his PB in both the 200m backstroke (2:14.97) and 100m backstroke events (1:02.96); while David Andrews (17y) also set a new PB in the 200m breaststroke (2:29.40) and finished in 8th place in the 100m breaststroke finals (1:08.93).
