Wimbledon’s Sophie Hosking says a semi-final win over defending world women’s lightweight double sculls champions Greece counts for nothing unless they repeat the feat in the final.
Former Kingston Grammar School student Hosking and partner Hester Goodsell beat Christina Giazitzidou and Alexandra Tsiavou by just over a second to book a place in Friday’s World Championship final in New Zealand.
The 24-year-old AFC Wimbledon fan was delighted to put one over the European champions, but insists all their attention is on the next challenge.
“It was good to see them looking exhausted at the end,” she said.
“We got what we wanted, but we've got to draw a line under it now and focus on performing in the final on Friday.”
