Paul Martellini led home more than 500 runners in Sunday’s inaugural Richmond 10km road race, promoted by Ranelagh Harriers.

The New Zealander clocked 30 minutes, 33 seconds, to finish ahead of Basingstoke’s John Hutchins (31:10) and Bournemouth’s Steven Way (31:14).

The road race, previously known as the Dysart Dash, was staged on a new course using the roads of Ham and part of the Thames towpath.

The Surrey Championships, held in conjunction with the event, were won by Serpentine’s Nick Torry (31:31), who finished fourth.

Next were Herne Hill’s Chris Busaileh (32.11) and Ranelagh’s Phil Killingley (32:22).

Eigth-placed Sam Perskins (32.22) helped Ranelagh to the team title, with Herne Hill’s Alan Barnes ninth (32:25).

Veterans: 1 Pete Haarer (Ranelagh) 32.47, 2 Luis Gomez (Sutton Runners) 34.17, 3 Stuart Fraser (Hercules Wimbledon) 34.54.

Over-50 vets: 1 Ian Kitching (South London Harriers) 35.50, 2 Mark Gregory (SLH) 35.54, 3 Howard Gleave (Ranelagh) 36.08.

Belgrave Harriers’ Samantha Amend (36:30) won the women’s 10km title ahead of Ranelagh’s Liz Kipling (36:59) and West 4 Harriers’ Anna Critchlow (37:32).

Over 45 vets: 1 Deborah Steer (St Albans Striders) 39.32, 2 Marie Synnott-Wells (Ranelagh) 39.50, 3 Susanna Harrison (Woking) 41.01.

Over-55 vets: 1 Jane Davies (Epsom & Ewell) 41.57, 2 Louise Neville (Stragglers) 49.39, 3 Debbie Wilkes (Lingfield) 49.43.
