Woodmansterne ran out 44-run winners over Long Ditton in their Fuller’s League Division Two clash on Saturday, writes David Clisby.

Richard Knight (41) and Robbie Joyce (35) were the main contributors as Woods were 214 all out, while Oli Fegan and Michael Hall picked up three wickets apiece.

In reply Woods decided to use the old ball and opened with spin twins Sham Ahmed (6-57) and Tom Wortley.

Sham, who bowls a mixture of every kind of spinning delivery known to man made life difficult for both the batsmen and the woods keeper.

Nick Turnbull (76) was the main threat from the Long Ditton side however it was not enough as Woods recorded a comfortable victory by 44 runs.

* Woods seconds stayed top of Division One with a comforrtable five-wicket win over Churt.

A good variation of seam and cutters saw Paul Movel take 5-51 as Cheam were all out for 196. Oliver Plaistowe top-scored with 43.

Woods never looked in trouble and, although Wilson suffered a painful injury on 41, knocks of 64 from Chirag Patel and 38 from Jay K Patel paved the way to victory.

Ian Millar helped to finish the job with 26 not out.

* Woods thirds went down to an eight-wicket defeat at Kingstonian III.

After a bright start, in which Yaneet Patel hit 75 and Andy Conway 31, Woods then struggled to 212-8 declared, setting Ks 213 to win in 46 overs.

Woods were unable to make an early breakthrough with the ball and, although Harris Donovan and Phil Wells took a wicket each, the hosts were comfortable winners with four overs to spare.

* Woodmansterne Surrey Trust XI ran out 100-run winners over Epsom CC Trust XI.

Aaron Wells (106), Yaneet Patel (54) and Jay Patel (68 not out) were in fine form as Woods reached 253-2 and Ollie Houghton then took 5-37 as Epsom were all out for 153. Rob Lowe hit 61 for Epsom.
