Fayyaz Hasmat's unbeaten half century helped Purley secured their first points of the Surrey Championship Division One season on Saturday.

The number seven hit 68 not out as Purley made 199-7 in response to third-bottom Epsom's 198 all out, to win by three wickets and stop a run of six straight defeats.

Old Whitgiftians secured their second win in three games with an eight wicket defeat of East Molesey.

Jason Lewis was the hero of the day, producing his best ever bowling figures for OWs as he registered 6-53 as East Molesey were bowled out for 115.

In response, Laurie Evans top scored with 42 not out as OW reached their target in less than 18 overs.

In Division Three, Trinity Mid-Whitgiftian moved up to third place thanks to half centuries from Robert Warne and Richard Nowell.

Warne's 72 and Nowell's 75 not out helped the home side to 245-6, before Mark Roberts and Tony Brugnoli took three wickets each to skittle Metropolitan Police out for 133.

Addiscombe played out a winning draw with Warlingham in Division Four, while Southern Railway & Kenley lost by seven wickets to Cranleigh.

In Division Five, openers Nick Woods (137) and Zak Elkin (100) put on 240 for the first wicket for Chipstead, Coulsdon & Walcountian against Stoke D'Abernon but they had to settle for the winning draw.

Croydon MO lost by nine wickets to Godalming after they were bowled out for 80, of which Abid Ali scored 59 and six players scored ducks.
