Herne Hill Harriers’ Katie Snowden stole the show at the Aviva England World Trial Championships in Bedford last weekend with a stunning victory in the U20 women’s 400m final.

The 16 year old Herne Hill athlete was in superb form to record a personal best time of 54.59 seconds beating in the process some of the country’s best young athletes including Victoria Ohuruogu, the younger sister of Olympic and Commonwealth Champion, Christina.

Katie, who had won the 800m final in the South of England Championships only a week ago, has also managed to break Herne Hill Harriers’ club under 17, under 20 and senior women’s 400m records all held previously by former HHH and international athlete Olivia Hines.

Katie’s 400m time also broke the Surrey County record for under 17 women’s 400m, previously held by former European Junior Champion and Croydon Harriers athlete Donna Fraser.

Elsewhere, Herne Hill Harriers senior men’s team finished in second place in Sunday’s Richmond 10km race behind race hosts Ranelagh Harriers. HHH senior women’s team finished in 5th place in a more competitive field.

In Sunday’s National Young Athletes League match in Battersea Park, Herne Hill Harriers finished in third place with Khalil Njoya taking a new club record in the U17 men’s discus, a throw measuring 46.60m.
