Dulwich were thoroughly outplayed in their seven-wicket defeat by Surrey Championship Division Two leaders Camberley on Saturday.

Put into bat, Dulwich skipper Anil Mahey and Stephen Hale survived a hostile opening spell from Chris Schutte to put on 51 for the first wicket in 18 overs.

Hale then fell for 17 but Mahey and Aussie import Marshall then added 54 in 16 overs. But they fell in successive overs, Mahey for 48 and Hood run out by a direct hit for 32.

Nick Storey and Chris Lester also fell to reduce Dulwich to 133-5 in the 44th over.

James Balmforth and Tom Howe consolidated for three overs before going on the attack, adding a quickfire 61 off the last eight overs to take their partnership to an undefeated 72 from 11.4 overs.

Howe finished with 44 off 45 balls and Balmforth gave good support with 26 off 36 balls as Dulwich closed on 205-5 from 55 overs. Schutte finished with 1-31 and left-arm spinner Marty Kain 3-69.

Camberley, given 46 overs to get the runs, romped home with more than five to spare.

Opener Sunny Miller batted through the innings with 80 not out off 106 balls, reciving good support from Howard Grice (38), Janish Kaminski (30) and Stephen Hurst (25 not out).

Only Harry MacDonald with 1-40 off 11 overs and Tom Peacock with 1-30 off 10 were able to contain the flow of runs.

Dulwich host Worcester Park on Saturday.
