Epsom District Swimming Club take another step towards being one of the best in Surrey by holding their inaugural open meet at the Rainbow Centre, Epsom, this weekend.

More than 150 swimmers from 13 other clubs are expected to take part.

This is an exciting event for swimmers in Epsom, and is the first opportunity for the club to use their new £25,000 electronic timing system.

Competitors will include Epsom’s six national qualifiers – Nathalie Richards, Sam Atkinson and the boys’ 4x200m freestyle relay team, who are the club’s first relay team to qualify for the national Cchampionships.

The club would like to thank Epsom & Ewell BC and GLL, the operators of the Rainbow Centre, for their support in allowing this event to take place and closing the pool to the public at 1pm on Saturday and Sunday.

The first race will start at 3pm.

To kick off Epsom’s week of galas, the learner swimmers of Seahorses held their own last Saturday.

Swimmers aged from four upwards competed in width races on their front and back. Ribbons for achievement given to everyone who took part.
