Croydon took bronze medals at the Balfour Beatty London Youth games diving finals at Crystal Palace on Saturday.

Amber Sheppard claimed gold in the junior girls’ individual event, with Croydon team-mate Jessica Mitchell claiming silver in the senior girls’ event.

Croydon Team Manager Jo Caluino said: “All the team dived amazingly, and have improved on last years’ performances individually.

“It shows that diving is a great sport with a great talent from Croydon.

“The London Youth Games is a great event, as there are not many team competitions around, so it is a great opportunity for them to take part as a team and represent their borough.

“There is no doubt it has helped them gain competitive experience which will help them excel further.

“It really helps prepare them for the next step.

“We will celebrate by getting the girls altogether in the gym with their medals to help get the younger kids excited about taken part for next year and start building towards another London Youth Games success.”
