East Molesey 115 all out 38.1 overs.

Old Whitgiftians 119- 2 17.5 overs.

OW's won by 8 wickets.

Jason Lewis produced his best ever Old Whitgiftians bowling figures as his side beat East Molesey by eight wickets in Division One on Saturday.

His magnificent 6-53 at Graburn Way saw Molesey bowled out for 15 and set OWs on their way to their second win in three games.

OW's skipper Ali Raja handed debuts to young bowlers Mohammad Raza (17) and Fred Woodrow (20) but neither were able to get in the game as the hosts were bowled out in short time by OW's more experienced bowlers.

Raja won the toss and inserted the hosts on a firm wicket that produced both pace and bounce.

Lewis had recovered from the shoulder injury which prevented him from bowling against Cheam the previous week and induced Neil Campbell into a loose shot from the last ball of the first over to be well taken by Ahmad Raja in the covers and leave East Molesey on 5-1.

Home skipper Sam Burge joined the in form Simon Barrett (two league hundreds already this season) in an attempt to stabilise matters and they capitalised as the next three overs from Lewis went for 23 including a rash of wides and no balls.

Crucially though, he had Barrett well taken at slip by Murtaza in the seventh over for 16 and when Burge fell in the same way off Laurie Evans in the next over Molesey were in some bother at 40-3.

Matters quickly worsened for the hosts when Murtaza took his third good slip catch in just 25 minutes to remove Ben Campbell off Lewis to make it 43-4 and when Lewis bowled Paul Lawford for 8, Molesey were staring down the barrel at 58-5 after 17 overs.

Ali Raja decided to give Evans a rest, having bowled a lively spell of 10-3-20-1, thowing the ball to brother Ahmad and was immediately rewarded as the 62 minute vigil of Lyndon Brown was ended when he attempted a big shot and was well caught by Luke Fisher.

Molesey went to the lunch break on 87-6 from 28 overs.

The innings only lasted another 10.1 overs as the introduction of Murtaza and a second spell from Lewis yielded two wickets apiece as East Molesey's innings was wrapped up for just 115 with only four players making double figures.

Lewis was unable to repeat his bowling heroics when OW's began their reply, falling in the first over trying to pull Brown.

The home supporters hopes were quickly erased as Ahmad Raja joined Evans and both played some attractive shots in adding 70 in just 10 overs as all the home bowlers struggled.

Raja was out for a 41 minute 35 caught off the bowling of Andrew Westphal before Murtaza and Evans finished the job in just 17.5 overs with 42 not out and 32 not out respectively and the game was finished before 4pm.
