Richmond skipper Kevin Barrett says he is treating the availability of Middlesex paceman Robbie Williams as an added bonus.

The 23-year-old sat out 2008 with a stress fracture to his back and played only a handful of games for club and county last season as he felt his way back to fitness.

Williams claimed figures of 4-24 as Barrett’s men skittled out Harrow Town for 84 at the weekend, before comfortably knocking off the runs for a fourth Middlesex County League Division Two victory.

He already has 14 wickets from four games as Richmond sit ten points adrift of league leaders Winchmore Hill, but the Old Deer Park captain insists they are not a one man team.

“If you had asked me at the season I would have said we’d get six games out of Robbie tops anyway,” he said.

“You just have to pick him and if he has to pull out, he pulls out. I’m quite relaxed about it.

“With all the recruitment we have done we have players from the seconds and thirds who can step up. They may not be exactly the same quality but they can do a job.

“He has got great control, but our entire bowling unit has been performing well this season.”

Williams combined with Jimmy Mugnaioni (4-11) to destroy Town at the weekend before Richmond, who play Hampstead in the Middlesex Cup on Sunday, overhauled their meagre target.

Barrett’s side travel to South Hampstead this week with the captain expecting maximum points.

“Every game we are looking to get ten points and I’m confident we have the capability to do that.”

In the Premier Division, Teddington continue to drop points at the top end of the table as they scraped a losing draw at home to Shepherds Bush on Saturday.

A century from Ahillen Beadle (117) helped the visitors to a mammoth 301 all out - with Duncan Wood (5-93) shining with the ball - before the hosts edged their way to 176 for seven.

Twickenham crashed by three wickets at Acton as their batting subsided to 121 all out, with only Tom Meredith (36) and JP Cronje (33) showing any real resistance.

Fawad Mullahzadah (4-34) came close to securing a surprise win, but Acton got home to secure their first win of the season.

Fixture: Twickenham v Hampstead, Eastcote v Teddington, South Hampstead v Richmond, Barnet Bs v Barnes.
