A small but select team from Leatherhead Swimming Club were up against tough competition from more than 40 clubs at the Crawley Spring Open Meet last weekend.

Chloe Bean (14 years) claimed the biggest medal haul, with golds in the 50m breaststroke, 100m breaststroke and 200m breaststroke, silvers in the 200 freestyle and 400m freestyle and bronze in the 200 individual medley.

She also broke the regional records for the 50m and 100m breaststroke.

Daniel Malamud (13 years) continued to show unbeatable form in the 100m freestyle and 100m backstroke, winning both.

He also achieved bronze in the 200m freestyle amid a highly competitive class.

Suzanne Norman (13 years) powered her way to gold in the 200m backstroke, narrowly missing out on a national qualifying time.

Team-mate Chris Green (12 years) collected silver for his 100m breaststroke in a very closely fought race.

He also achieved top-10 positions in the 50m breaststroke, 400m IM and 200m backstroke, as did Lauren Parsons in the 800m freestyle, Liam Mellet in the 50m freestyle, and Emma Brown in the 100m backstroke and 200m backstroke.
