Hercules Wimbledon teenagers Liam White and Alex Robinson produced gold medal-winning performances when they raced away men's U17 and U20 titles, respectively, at the Surrey cross country championships at Croydon's Lloyd Park on Saturday.

With the two championships being decided in the same race, the team mates ran together to finish in 26 minutes, 15 seconds.

White, whose nearest rival was more than half-a-minute adrift becomes the first Hercules runner to win the U17 title, while Robinson became the club’s first winner of the junior title since Dave Clarke in 1978.

Both are in action again at this weekend’s English National Championships in Roundhay Park, Leeds, on Saturday.

Also in the U17 race, Geordie Logan was ninth (28:40), with Ed Saywell 16th (29:39).

Hercules Wimbledon took bronze team medals in the senior men’s race, with Kieran White seventh (42:18) and Adam Przedrzymirski ninth (42:34).

Hercules Wimbledon's sole runner in the U15 championship, Ben Palmer, finished 17th in 15:57.

With Saturday's races being used as selection events for the UK Inter-Counties championships in Birmingham's Cofton Park on March 13, Hercules Wimbledon will have up to five runners representing Surrey there.

Liam White, Alex Robinson and Cassian Hyde are certain to make the teams while Kieran White and Adam Przedrzmirski have a good chance of making the senior men's squad.
