Young gun Ben Jones-Bishop has put Warrington on alert by claiming he is just getting started at Harlequins RL.

The on-loan full-back proved the highlight of an opening day defeat for Quins, claiming both tries as the Londoners fell to an 18-10 loss to Wakefield.

And the 21-year-old Leeds Rhinos star reckons there is plenty more to come.

Jones-Bishop said: “To be honest I think there are still plenty of areas for me to improve on.

“On Saturday the only thing I was really worried about was the defensive aspect of my performance, so to score two tries was a real bonus.

“I know we lost the game but I thought it was a pretty good display overall.

“It was great to get out there in a competitive game against a quality side and get a good hit-out.

“That can only improve me as a player and the team as a whole.”

Jones-Bishop’s two tries could not have been more different, streaking home after Quins spread the ball wide in the first half before using his strength to power over in the second.

And the full-back reckons that shows the two sides to his game.

He added: “My appearance is quite lanky but I think that is quite deceiving.

“I am stronger than most people realise, and in this offseason we have done a lot of work on conditioning and strength.

“I know I have the pace, and knowing you have the power to break a tackle gives you that extra bit of confidence.”

Quins get their road campaign under way with a trip to Warrington this weekend.

And Jones-Bishop has his sights set on a first win of the season.

He added: “We have some real things from the Wakefield game that we can build on and we have the edge of getting that first game under our belt.

“But there is no doubt the Wolves will come at us all guns blazing and we have to go up there expecting a very tough game.”
