The Carshalton Open Tournament, hosted by Carshalton Lawn Tennis Club, attracted 138 players from across the south-east, writes Dawn Chamarette.
The popular Lawn Tennis Association grade four event, now in its fifth year, showcased a host of young talent competing for singles titles, with age categories ranging from 12 and under.
The host club’s junior competitors put in outstanding performances, with Ben Fawcett taking the boys’ 16 and under titles, while Nicky Page won the boys’ 16 and under consolation prize. Clubmate James Collyer was runner-up.
Sponsored by Sutton consultancy Omega HR Solutions, the six-day tournament comprised 181 matches.
Tournament organiser Eileen Nutting said: “The Carshalton Open Tournament continues to be an extremely popular event and the standard of play seems to be even more impressive each year.
“For all first-round losers, we offer the opportunity to take part in a plate/consolation competition, ensuring that all players have the opportunity to play at least two matches.”
